Kehoe Says Man With Knife Attacked Family
Posted 30 October 2008
Late yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, Oct. 29, investigators with the state's Division of Criminal Investigation reported that Michelle Kehoe told officers she and her two sons were attacked by a man with a knife near the rural Buchanan County town of Littleton.

The alleged attack on Sunday, Oct. 26, led to the death of two-year-old Seth Kehoe and injuries to seven-year-old Sean Kehoe, and mother, Michelle Kehoe, 35, all of Coralville. Seth's body was recovered Monday, near the family van, found parked in a remote wooded area known as Line and Sinker Pond.

The Iowa State Medical Examiner's office Tuesday announced that Seth died of "sharp force injuries to the neck." His death is now being investigated as a homicide by law enforcement officials.

Members of the Buchanan County Sheriff's Department and Iowa's State Division of Criminal Investigation continue their work to discover what really happened to the family while on a trip to visit relatives in Sumner.

Condition reports on Michelle and Sean, who each underwent surgeries in separate hospitals earlier this week for their injuries, remain unavailable to the public.

Kehoe and the boys had been reported missing by her husband, Eugene Kehoe, Sunday evening. According to authorities, Michelle left the family home in Coralville at 11 a.m. Sunday for Sumner but never arrived at their destination.

A day later, investigators report Michelle appeared at the door of a rural Littleton residence, shortly before 8 a.m., seeking assistance.

The investigation continues.
