E-911 Surcharge Increase
Seeks an increase of monthly surcharge to $2.50 on each access line
collected on each phone subscriber's monthly bill in Fayette County.
The increased surcharge will be collected for no more than 24 months,
and will then revert to $1 per month for each line.
A ‘yes’ votes supports an increase of the levy.
Voting ‘no’ rejects the proposed increase.
Iowa Constitutional Amendment
This amendment changes the language of a person who cannot legally vote
from "idiot or insane person" to "a person adjudged mentally
incompetent to vote."
Text of measure:
"Shall the following amendment to the Constitution be adopted?
Summary: Changes the language that describes a person who cannot
legally vote from "idiot or insane person" to "a person adjudged
mentally incompetent to vote."
Section 5 of Article II of the Constitution of the State of Iowa is
repealed and the following adopted in lieu thereof; Disqualified
persons. Sec. 5 A person adjudged mentally incompetent to vote or a
person convicted of any infamous crime shall not be entitled to the
privilege of an elector."
Voting yes on this measure would support replacing the text.
A no vote rejects the proposed change in language in the state
constitution.
