News Braley Elected to Second Term Posted 05 November 2008 Voters in Iowa's 1st District chose Democrat incumbent Rep. Bruce Braley of Waterloo over Republican State Senator David Hartsuch of Bettendorf. Braley lists among his freshman term accomplishments legislation enacted or passed by the House addressing economic issues, disaster relief, veterans benefits, renewable energy and small business. The 12-county 1st District stretches from the Quad Cities north to Dubuque, then west to Bremer County.
