Weather Advisory in Effect

The National Weather
Service in Des Moines has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for freezing
rain and sleet for Black Hawk, Bremer, Butler, Chickasaw, Fayette,
Floyd, Franklin, Grundy, Hardin, Howard, Marshall, Tama and
Winneshiek County area in effect until 12 noon today, Tuesday,
Nov. 11.
Precipitation in the
form of light freezing rain, mixed with some sleet at times, will
continue through the morning. A band of heavier precipitation to the
south will push into the area through the early and mid morning hours.
Surface temperatures
are expected to remain very close to freezing this morning. Warm air
pushing north into the state will gradually turn the freezing rain to
rain during the mid to late morning hours.
Light accumulations
of ice are expected, mainly elevated surfaces and bridges.
As the low pressure
passes to the south of the area later this afternoon there is the
possibility of a quick shot of snow during the later afternoon and
evening hours. There is a potential for two to four inches of snow in a
band extending from the Fort Dodge area, northeast toward Mason City.
Additional advisories are possible for the later afternoon and evening
hours.
A Winter Weather
Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause
travel difficulties. be prepared for slippery roads and limited
visibilities. Use caution while driving.
