News Monona Resident Charged With Assault Posted 14 November 2008 The Fayette County Sheriffs Office, with assistance from the Iowa State Patrol, responded Wednesday night, Nov. 12, at approximately 10:30 p.m. to a report of an alleged sexual assault that had occurred in the city of Hawkeye. Upon further investigation, Rey Diaz, 31 of Monona, was arrested and charged with sexual assault in the third degree - a class "C" felony. Diaz was transported to the Fayette County Sheriffs Office where he was held awaiting his initial appearance.
