Man Ordered to Cease Actions
Posted 19 November 2008
The Iowa Board of Medicine has ordered Jerry Scheppele, 56, of Garnavillo to cease practicing at a beauty shop in Calmar.

According to the board, Scheppele scheduled appointments and performed finger pin prick tests, placing clients' blood on a glass slides, at Razors Edge Beauty Shop. The slides were placed under a microscope that projects the blood images on a television screen.

Scheppele allegedly would point out concerns about the shape and movement of the blood cells to clients and provide treatment recommendations.

The letter from the Board of Medicine, dated Nov. 13, warned Scheppele that a civil injunction could be filed or his case referred to the county attorney if he continues practicing unauthorized medicine.
