NICC
Peosta Campus Graduation May 15

Northeast Iowa
Community College will host spring term commencement at 7 p.m. on
Friday, May 15, at the Grand River Center in Dubuque. Approximately 160
students will participate in the graduation ceremony this semester. The
ceremony is free and open to the public.
NICC Trustee Dan Willenbring, of Dyersville, will present a
welcome address. The ceremony’s keynote speaker is Scott
Soppe, a 2006 NICC Associate in Applied Science Computer
Analyst-Networking Administration graduate. Soppe, of Cascade, is
employed with the Western Dubuque County Community School
District in Farley as a PC Support Technician, where he performs
end user training and assists in maintaining the district’s computers,
servers, networks and printers. Since 2003, Soppe has served in a
leadership role with the Cascade Lions Club and is currently completing
a one-year term as district governor for Lions Clubs of Iowa.
Donna Cain, an Associate in Applied Science-Business Specialist
graduate from Dubuque, will give the student remarks. She is a member
of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society and Alpha Beta Gamma, an
honors organization for business students. Cain is also an NICC
Business Professionals of America member at the Peosta campus. Cain
volunteers her time and talents to the
Baskets of Love program each year for children in need. The Dubuque
resident plans to continue her education to earn her B.A.
NICC offers Associate in Arts and Associate in Science transferable
degrees, technical degrees, continuing education and
workforce development. Students can choose majors from more
than 75 programs such as business, health, industrial technologies
and agriculture. Registration for new students is open now. NICC
will hold a summer visit day for prospective students on Wednesday,
June 24 beginning at 10 a.m.
