NICC
Student from Delhi Wins CHS Scholarship
Posted 28 May 2009
Jeremy Nurre, of
Delhi, received a $1,000 scholarship from the CHS Foundation, the major
giving entity of CHS Inc., an energy, grains and foods company. Nurre
is studying dairy science at NICC’s Calmar campus and is one of 50
students receiving scholarships through the CHS Foundation Two-Year
College Scholarship Program.
An independent, external committee selected recipients based on essays,
transcripts and reference letters. The CHS Foundation invites
first-year agricultural students at two-year colleges to apply for the
scholarship. The award is open to U.S. citizens who are studying in an
agriculture-related major and will apply the additional funding to
their second year of study.
“We are proud to support the next generation of leaders in
agribusiness and production agriculture,” says William J. Nelson,
CHS Foundation president. “These students will play an important
role in our communities.”
The CHS Foundation is the major giving entity of CHS Inc. As part of
the CHS corporation’s stewardship focus, the CHS Foundation is
committed to investing in the future of rural America, agriculture and
cooperative businesses through education and leadership development.
